Stassi Schroeder Recalls Her Ex Selling Her Sex Tape

September 2024 · 3 minute read

Stassi Schroeder is the first to admit that, historically, she’s had bad taste in men. (Besides current boyfriend Beau Clark — he’s a keeper!)

As Vanderpump Rules fans know, one ex even shopped around her sex tape after their breakup, a violation that Schroeder calls “one of the scariest things that’s ever happened to me” in her new book, Next Level Basic: The Definitive Basic Bitch Handbook .

She writes that she learned about his plan immediately after moving to New York in 2014.

“The plane landed and I had text messages from Lisa Vanderpump and our producer Alex Baskin saying Call me 911. My heart literally fell into my asshole (I’m sure that’s medically possible, because I felt it), and when I found out this ex was trying to sell TMZ a tape of me masturbating, I fell onto the floor of JFK crying,” she says.

She tried to ignore his threats, “but he started showing up at my old apartment and scaring my ex-roommate,” she writes. “Then he asked Lisa Vanderpump for $900 to not release the tape, and I was like, $900?? That’s all I’m worth?! What kind of amateur extortionist only asks for $900?”

Still, Vanderpump paid up to save her ex-employee from public humiliation. “I never heard from him again,” Schroeder writes.

After Schroeder, 30, left Los Angeles for N.Y.C., she fell out with many of her friends and Vanderpump, 58, who didn’t appreciate her negative interviews about SUR and suggested she wasn’t as appreciative as she should have been. It all made sense to viewers in season 4, when Schroeder returned and revealed what had been happening behind the scenes.

“Lisa was talking to him and Lisa was like, ‘He came in and said he wants $900 for it.’ I’m like, ‘I’m not giving him $900. And then Lisa calls me and she’s like, ‘I took care of it.’ And I’m like, ‘What?'” she said on Vanderpump Rules. “She’s like, ‘We paid him $900 cash.’ And I’m like, ‘So you gave him cash, so there’s no record of it, and you didn’t make him sign anything?'”

“The whole sex tape thing shook my world,” she said in another scene.

When Schroeder tried to repay her, though, Vanderpump refused. Eventually, of course, Schroeder got back into the cast’s good graces and put the scandal behind her. She also learned something from the traumatizing ordeal.

“Never put your face in your sexy selfies, yo,” she joked to Entertainment Tonight in 2015.

Vanderpump Rules airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo. Next Level Basic is on shelves now.
