Oprah Winfrey Channels a Christmas Tree in Glitter Dress, Green Coat

Oprah Winfrey is on top of her holiday style game—even when she’s under the weather!

The Harpo CEO stepped out to the premiere of the Martin Luther King, Jr. biopic, Selma, on Sunday, Dec. 14, in NYC, and she was rocking an especially festive holiday ensemble.

Although she was battling a nasty cold, Winfrey, 60, who co-produced the film and acts in a few scenes, celebrated its debut in a glittering tea-length dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. And thanks to its head-to-toe beading, the dress also reflected the color of the Oprah’s Next Chapter host’s dramatic, draped coat: a deep evergreen, not so unlike a Christmas tree.

For beauty, Winfrey modeled her natural, shoulder-length curls. She also added lined eyes, blushed cheeks, and a nude lip.

The philanthropic media megastar hit the premiere alongside stars David Oyelowo and Tom Wilkinson, even with a bug. (She asked for a sip of water then said to reporters, “Okay. Red carpet. Let’s do this!”)

From there on out, Winfrey was eager to share just why she was so invested in telling this take on MLK’s life. “I think that you make a mistake when you have an iconic figure like Dr. King and you try to tell the whole story, from the beginning to the end of his life—there’s too much!” she told Us Weekly.

She added, “To really focus on these crucial three months in Selma, which made the difference between voting or not voting for an entire race of people in this country at that time—it’s such an important story to tell.”
