Emma Watson has fast become a style icon since graduating from Hogwarts, but she certainly looks most comfortable when wearing casual clothes.

The actress was enjoying the first of the spring sunshine on Thursday in east London, having returned from Los Angeles after presenting at the 86th Academy Awards.

Emma, 23, joined Joseph Gordon-Levitt to present the Oscar for Best Visual Effects on Sunday night, and the two seemed at ease with each other on the stage at the Dolby Theatre.

But the actress used her training to hide her nerves, as she said at the event that she was feeling a bit tense.

‘I'm a little nervous, Watson told E! Online. ‘I tried to wear shoes that weren't too crazy so I wouldn't worry that much about tripping.’

‘I always score my shoes and I put insoles in them because it's a long event. They can really hurt by the end of the night.’

Emma ended up in a pair of Jimmy Choos and wore a Vera Wang black and silver dress with Anita Ko, Chanel, Repossi, Bouchoron, and Solange jewellery, Jessica McCormack star hair pins and an Anya Hindmarch clutch.

Watson plays the daughter-in-law to the pre-flood Patriarch (played by Russell Crowe), who builds an ark to save God’s creations in a world mired by human sin.

Coincidentally, the production was held up by another Act of God, Hurricane Sandy which devastated areas of New Jersey and New York where Noah was being filmed.

As guest editor of Wonderland magazine, Emma explained that the irony wasn’t lost on her or the crew.

‘It was surreal for a couple of reasons’ Watson explained. ‘It delayed the end of our shooting for a few weeks, so we got the irony of filming an epic biblical movie about a flood, and then a storm comes and floods much of New York.

‘It even damaged the ark, which was what set us back.'

Noah is released in the UK on April 14th and in the US on April 28th
